Front entrance of ATA

Hello ATA Families & Friends

We have several events coming up, and I hope to see you at them! Check out our school calendar for more information.

First, a big congratulations to four of our students who were accepted into the Oregon Music Educators Association (OMEA) All-State ensembles. For context, ATA has historically had only one student accepted per year, so four is a big deal! These students will perform in January alongside some of the best middle school musicians from across Oregon.

I’m also happy to report that our coffee shop is almost up and running. Students have been practicing, and I’ve had the pleasure of sampling some of their recipes. Tasty!

In November, we’ll kick off our annual WolfCup grade-level competition. It’s simple: grades earn points by showing up every day and getting to class on time. We’ll also run random “Rock the Clock, Beat the Bell” challenges for bonus points. Here’s how you can help:
  • Make sure your student comes to school every day in November and December.
  • Encourage them to get to class on time.
Big prizes await! We don’t have a trophy cup to award the winning grade level, which would be a fun touch. If you happen to have a big trophy you’d like to donate for this purpose, please bring it by.

Finally, our leadership class is phenomenal and is busy planning activities, including holiday boxes, activity nights, and formal dances. More to come!

As always, I’m just a phone call away, or you’re welcome to stop by and visit us.

Take care,
Dr. G

Costume Guidelines

For Costume Day on Friday - if you choose to participate - here are the general guidelines and expectations to make sure everyone has a safe and fun day:
  1. Costumes must meet the general dress code safety requirements as outlined in the student handbook - this includes what students wear and props for costumes (weapons and depictions of illegal items are still prohibited).
  2. Students may wear face paint, but it cannot be applied/reapplied during the school day - what you come to school wearing is what you get for the day.
  3. No masks (except for the ones typically worn to ward off illness).
  4. The rule about hoods is still in effect…Hoods off in the building
  5. Costumes should not be overly scary/gory
  6. All classes will be happening as they do on a typical Friday - if you have classes such as PE, make sure your costume allows you to participate freely.
  7. Blow up costumes are not allowed because they are noisy and make it hard to sit at a desk!
  8. Now and into next week - leave excess candy at home - it will be confiscated
